Photos and Support Letter in Haiti

HFCM is about 3 and half hours away from the capital however, our village is feeling the effects through widespread hunger.

Support Letter

Habitat For Children Ministries, Inc. (HFCM) is a 501 C (3) non-profit organization working in the rural area of LaJuene, Haiti. Founded in 2005 by Meschac St Amour, HFCM has sought to meet the physical and spiritual needs of the children and families in the area by providing food, clothing, shelter, access to education, school supplies, and medical attention and care, all while sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ. Over the past year, this work has been extremely difficult due to the violence and unrest in the capital city of Port-au-Prince.

HFCM is about 3 and half hours away from the capital however, our village is feeling the effects through widespread hunger. Gangs have created roadblocks for trucks traveling out of the capitol which is stopping aid and everyday necessities from getting to small villages. There is also no gas to travel and staple products such as rice, beans and oil are too expensive to buy even when they are available, so families are going without.

HFCM has been working to bring over as much food and aid to the people as possible and we want to continue our efforts in helping as much as we can for as long as needed because we know of the political hardships that continuously plague the Haitian country.

HFCM uses Missionary Flights International out of Fort Pierce, FL to deliver goods directly into the mountain area at $1.95/a pound. Some of the items that we know can go far are ramen noodles, dry milk, cereal, oatmeal, rice, dry beans, spaghetti/macaroni noodles and peanut butter.

We know that we can't feed everyone but the more help that we can get, the better the people of Haiti will be because families need help now. To find out more information on how you can be a blessing, please contact Meschac St Amour at any of the following:

Phone: (561) 536-3177 or (561) 633-8087

We thank you in advance for any assistance in this matter!

Photos of King Tut Exhibit - Tons of Fun

We Visited the King Tut Exhibit on April 30th

April 30 - Grace Tons of Fun gathering - visit to the Elliot Museum - King Tut exhibit.

We had about 22 people signed up, but a couple of conflicts came up. Another couple joined us at last minute in addition.

We gathered at the museum and met Barbara, the docent assigned to lead our tour.  The King Tut exhibit includes replicas of actual artifacts. It was mentioned that the exhibit had been on tour decades earlier. Some of our Grace group mentioned that they may have seen this exhibit years earlier,  some as far back as 40 years ago.

The docent provided lots of background on the period and artifacts. I believe we learned a lot  and several of us came away with some areas of additional self research.

As the King Tut tour was winding down some of the Grace group started visiting other parts of the museum. Eventually others joined them. The car collection and display area was a hit.  It has a car jukebox like display system that brings individual cars down from the collection for front and center viewing.

Shortly after that, 9 of us decide to break for lunch at the tiki cafe which is just outside the museum.  I think we were all surprised how good the food was.

The weather cleared as we were eating and we decided to take a short stroll across the beach parking area to take a look at the Seaside Cafe and the Stuart beach.

Shortly after that we decided to say good bye.  It was nice that we had some blue sky and beautiful view of the ocean as a bonus on our outing.

Above are a few photos from the visit.

Update from Haiti. Letter, Photos, CBS Miami

Here is a Email Meschac sent to pastor about what is going on in Haiti.

Here is a Email Meschac sent to pastor about what is going on in Haiti.

The 3 videos are from CBS Miami who flew to Haiti with Meschac. Top Video is the best.

Information about my travels

On Tuesday, March 19th, Missionary Flights International carried 4 passengers, including myself from the United States to Haiti. As there is so much turmoil in Haiti at this time, the flight experienced turbulence for the entire 4 and half hour trip giving us a preview of what was to come. We landed safely in Cap Haitien to clear through customs and then continued our journey to our final destination in Pignon, Haiti. Unfortunately, people here are starving. I am grateful to MFI because I had an opportunity to bring in some ramen noodles, dry milk, peanut butter and medical supplies for 100 people but it's just not enough. The people all over Haiti are struggling because of the violence in Port au Prince. It has blocked aid and everyday necessities from getting to small villages because there is no gas to travel. Staple products such as rice, beans and oil are too expensive to buy when they are available so families are going without.

Habitat For Children Ministries is about 3 and half hours from the capital of Port au Prince but we are feeling the effects through the widespread hunger. We know that we can't feed everyone but the more help that we can get, the better the people of Haiti will be. I have been talking with people in the United States for future food shipments but the Haitian families need help now. We at Habitat want to continue our efforts in helping as much as we can for as long as needed because we know of the political hardships that continuously affect this country.
