[Sunday] Triangles - Faith and Family Dysfunction
Remember that time when you asked your mom for something and she denied your request? Then you went straight to your dad and asked him. Yeah, that's making a triangle. It’s bad, but we do that all the time, and yet it needs to stop.
Service [above] Sermon releases at 10pm [under]
Questions for the Week
Describe a time when you were hurt by someone triangulating or gossiping about you.
Read Genesis 27. How does Rebecca triangulate to get her way? What effect does this have on the relationships in her family?
Read Matthew 18:15-20. What does Jesus call us to do when we have a problem with someone? What promise does he make to us?
Who do you need to go to directly this week to be reconciled?

[Sunday] Named Anxiety - Faith and Family Dysfunction
Abraham looks at God's promises to him and tries to make them happen for himself. Oh, the havoc caused by not trusting God and who you really are! But God still brings peace with his promises.
Service [above] Sermon releases at 10pm [under]
Questions for the Week
What situations have brought you anxiety? How have you handled them?
Read Genesis 16. How does Abram and Sarai handle the anxiety about not being able to conceive a son that was promised to them by God?
In what ways have you tried to control things rather than trusting God? How has that added to your anxiety?
Genesis 17:1-6, 15-21. How does God remind Abram what his identity is?
How can remembering your identity as a child of God, a Christian or “little Christ,” bring you peace?

[Sunday] No Excuses - Faith and Family Dysfunction
Anxiety, pitting our family and friends against each other, group think, and bitterness - these all take life away from us and can cause us to live in despair. But when we look through the main story of Scripture, we see a family that is extremely dysfunctional, and yet God never leaves them, and we know them as the patriarchs.
Service [above] Sermon releases at 10pm [under]
Questions for the Week
What do you think causes dysfunction in a family?
Read Romans 3:23. What does this tell us about our role in dysfunction?
Read Romans 4. Specifically look at verses 18-22. How does God show His promise to Abraham, despite Abraham’s weakness?
How have you seen God work in the midst of people’s dysfunction? How has God been faithful to his promises to you?

What Had happened at Grace this week.
[Sunday] - Epiphany - Nostalgia
Look, they are following the light to salvation. And as they bring their gifts, these Gentiles find they have been given the greatest gift of all.
What Had happened at Grace this week.
[Sunday] He Is Here- Nostalgia
God told him he would see the Messiah. Which young boy would it be? But when the young family walked in there was no doubt: He is here.
What Had happened at Grace this week.
[Sunday] Wonderful Mess - Nostalgia
It was supposed to be the best. God was coming into the world. Jimmy Stewart was the lead. But it was all a mess from accusations of cheating to script rewrites. The whole thing looks unimportant. But it becomes one of the most beloved stories of all time.
Service [above] Sermon releases at 10pm [under]
Questions for the Week
What is the most iconic Christmas movie to you? Why?
Read Matthew 1:18-25. What are the two names given to Jesus? How do these names help us better understand Christmas?
What do these names teach you about your greatest needs?
Think of a mess that you are in or someone you love is in. How can you remind yourself or them, that Jesus is Immanuel (God with us)?

[Sunday] Someone Greater - Nostalgia
King Solomon had it all. Incredible wisdom, amazing riches, and he was even tall. Even queens from far off lands came to check on all his plans. But it all fell apart, like the Grinch stole his heart. And here we sit as if for a waiter, contemplating if there really is someone greater.

Questions for the Week
What is your favorite children’s Christmas book that you’ve read? Why?
Read 1 Kings 11:1-10. Why do you think Solomon ends so badly?
What are the temptations in your life that cause you to not “keep Christ in Christmas?”

[Sunday] Expanding Christmas - Nostalgia
The Gospel writer Matthew is starting small and common, the son of Abraham. But he quickly expands who is invited to the table to the poor, the tax collectors, and even those terrible Gentiles. It kinda reminds me of the Griswald’s Christmas.
Service [above] Sermon releases at 10pm [under]
Questions for the Week
When you think of family gatherings around the holidays, do you prefer smaller gatherings or gatherings where everyone in the family is invited? Why?
Read Genesis 22. Why do you think it would be difficult for Abraham to sacrifice Isaac, the son of the promise?
Read Hebrews 11:17-19. How do you see Jesus in this story of the sacrifice of Issac?
In difficult times, where have you seen God be faithful to his promise for you?

[Sunday] Misfit Kingdom - Nostalgia
Why do we love Christmas so much? I think it is because there is still a strong connection through the heart of the holiday with the heart of God’s Kingdom. But perhaps only the blind can see the connection.

Questions for the Week

What Had happened at Grace this week.
[Sunday] Christ the King
Just as Christ is “the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end,” at the close of every liturgical year, we look forward, with renewed hope, to Christ’s coming again in glory to reign as Lord forever. In the same way, we also look forward to our own resurrection and the time of a new earth — an earth that is no longer broken by sin and groaning. Christ will come again in glory just as surely as He came the first time, when He was born. So we have these three weeks of “transition” at the end of the “long green season” into the Advent Season: the new beginning of the liturgical year.
Service [above] Sermon releases at 10pm [under]
Questions for the Week
Skim over Matthew 23-25. What is Jesus primarily talking about? How does it make you feel?
Think of a time when things seemed out of control in your life. Where did you think God was in that time?
Read Matthew 25:31. At the end times where does Jesus say he (the son of man) will be?
Read Matthew 25:32-40. How do the sheep (the righteous) respond when Jesus tells them all the good kingdom of God work they had been doing and welcomes them into his kingdom? Think of a time when you didn’t realize when God was doing his Kingdom work through you as you were his hands and feet loving others.

[Sunday] Rain on Enemies - The Party
Look at the party the father is throwing. The whole town is there. Even that scoundrel Matt is there who stole from the father’s business. I can’t even believe he is throwing this party for that son who took everything from him. But did you hear about the drama with the older son? He is refusing to go into the party? After all it is raining on all the party.

When have you been tempted by this same voice, trying to convince you that you don’t have enough? How does this voice move you to act towards possessions?
In times of crisis, a scarcity mindset—focusing on what we don’t have—can easily cause us to cling to worldly goods. Do you experience this? What would you and others around you gain by trusting God’s generous love instead?

[Sunday] Jonah Chapter 1
Asleep at the wheel? Have you ever been driving and you then realize you are miles further than you remember? Scary stuff. Jonah is asleep at the wheel of his faith, just getting by and hurting people in the process. Perhaps his life can wake us from our slumber.
Service [above] Sermon releases at 10pm [under]
Questions for the Week
What do you think is important about the story of Jonah in the Bible?
Read Jonah 1. What does God ask Jonah to do? What does Jonah actually do?
As Jonah runs from God, describe what negative effect that has on other people.
Describe a time you’ve gone an opposite direction of God in your life. What were the results?
How is Jonah ultimately rescued? Read Matthew 12:39-41. How does Jesus rescue us in a similar way?

GIVING - Changing over to a social distance model of ministry has been quite challenging. We needed to purchase new equipment and the overall church’s expenses did not go down even though we were not meeting in person. We are here to provide “Grace and Peace in this Chaotic and Lonely Time” to those in our church and community. Thank you for your past and continual prayers and financial support to Grace and your community.

[Sunday] Sneaky Snakes - The Standard - 9,10th Commandment
It's so scandalous and sneaky when we feign righteousness before everyone but secretly wish them poor fortune.
Service [above] Sermon releases at 10pm [under]
Questions for the Week
Describe a time when you have coveted something? What did that do to the relationship with the person that had it? What did that coveting do to your relationship with God in that time?
Read 1 Timothy 6:6-12. Where does God desire his people to look for, and find, contentment?
Name some specific maneuvers and shrewd practices approved by the world that would come under diving judgement of the 9th and 10th commandments.
How does being content with what you have prevent you from coveting?
We’ve seen that the 10 commandments are all about loving God and our neighbor. What have you learned in our time this sermon series in the 10 commandments?
