Say What? - Jesus Said What?
In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes. But they are never far from His eyes.
Jesus says some things about the Christian life that often seem confusing. Come and explore the teachings of Jesus as He shows us the Kingdom of God.

[Sunday] Don't Look Away - His Eyes The Book of Judges
The Book of Judges, though a difficult read, confronts us with the ugly truth of how easily we turn away from God and calls us to acknowledge and confess our own sins instead of ignoring them or destroying others.
Judges Chapters 17-21
The Book of Judges, though a difficult read, confronts us with the ugly truth of how easily we turn away from God and calls us to acknowledge and confess our own sins instead of ignoring them or destroying others.
QUESTIONS FOR THE WEEK: His Eyes: The Book of Judges - Don’t Look Away
When are times that you are tempted to look away and not speak up?
Read Judges 18-21. How bad have the sins of God’s people gotten at this point? What is the result of doing what is right in our own eyes?
We talked about two unhealthy responses to sin: ignoring it and destroying the sinner. Can you think of any examples in your own life, your community, or even current events, where people tend to ignore sin or focus on destroying the sinner rather than addressing the root of the problem?
Read 1 John 1:8-9. Rather than looking away from sin, what are we called to do? How does Jesus respond?

New Song, “My Worth Is Not In What I Own"
Good way to end Judges
Here is Grace’s Recording for Sunday
On May 19th 2024 we are singing
“My Worth Is Not In What I Own”
(Kendrick,Getty CCLI 7024758 )
1. My worth is not in what I own
Not in the strength of flesh and bone
But in the costly wounds of love, at the cross
2. My worth is not in skill or name
In win or lose in pride or shame
But in the blood of Christ that flowed, at the cross
Refrain
I rejoice in my Redeemer
Greatest treasure Wellspring of my soul
I will trust in Him no other
My soul is satisfied in Him alone
3. As summer flowers we fade and die
Fame youth and beauty hurry by
But life eternal calls to us, at the cross
4. I will not boast in wealth or might
Or human wisdom's fleeting light
But I will boast in knowing Christ, at the cross (Refrain)
5. Two wonders here that I confess
My worth and my unworthiness
My value fixed my ransom paid, at the cross (Refrain 2x)
Listen to the Orginial.

[Sunday] Blind Samson - His Eyes The Book of Judges
Samson is set apart. He has a special diet and ways to groom himself. He is powerful and can defeat those who should be stronger than him. But even though he is blind to the ways of God, God is not blind of him.
Judges Chapters 10-12

QUESTIONS FOR THE WEEK: His Eyes: The Book of Judges - Blind Samson
We connected Samson's struggles to our own tendency to be blind to God's work. Can you think of a time when you relied on your own strength instead of trusting in God?
Read Judges 15:11-16 and Judges 16:23-30. What evidence is there that Samson had selfish motivation to fight the Philistines?
Skim over all of Samson’s story from Judges 14-16. In what ways is Samson just like the people of Israel? How is Samson blind to what God is doing? In what ways are we similar?
Jesus comes to fulfill Israel. How is Jesus a true and better judge for us?

[Sunday] Cultured Jephthah - His Eyes The Book of Judges
Japhthah tragically misunderstands God's nature, thinking that God will only act because of grossly large devotion. But the actual kingdom of God is one of grace and forgiveness that sets us free.
Judges Chapters 10-12
Japhthah tragically misunderstands God's nature, thinking that God will only act because of grossly large devotion. But the actual kingdom of God is one of grace and forgiveness that sets us free.
QUESTIONS FOR THE WEEK: His Eyes: The Book of Judges - Cultured Jephthah
Can you think of a time in your own life where you approached God with a transactional mindset? Maybe a prayer bargain or feeling like you needed to "earn" God's favor? How did that make you feel?
Read Judges 11. Where did Jephthah come from? Who wanted him to be the leader? How is this different from the other Judges we’ve looked at so far in this series?
Why do you think Jephthah makes the vow that he does? What does this tell us about his view of God?
The sermon talks about God being a God of grace, not transactions. How can we better integrate this idea into our daily lives and avoid falling back into a performance-based faith?

New Song, “Yet Not I But Through Christ In Me"
Pretty Song For this Week
Here is Grace’s Recording for Sunday
On May 5th 2024 we are singing
“Yet Not I But Through Christ In Me”
(Robinson, Farren, Thompson #7121852)
1. What gift of grace is Jesus my redeemer
There is no more for heaven now to give
He is my joy my righteousness and freedom
My steadfast love my deep and boundless peace
To this I hold my hope is only Jesus
For my life is wholly bound to his
Oh how strange and divine I can sing all is mine
Yet not I but through Christ in me
2. The night is dark but I am not forsaken
For by my side the Savior he will stay
I labor on in weakness and rejoicing
For in my need his power is displayed
To this I hold my Shepherd will defend me
Through the deepest valley he will lead
Oh the night has been won and I shall overcome
Yet not I but through Christ in me
3. No fate I dread I know I am forgiven
The future sure the price it has been paid
For Jesus bled and suffered for my pardon
And he was raised to overthrow the grave
To this I hold my sin has been defeated
Jesus now and ever is my plea
Oh the chains are released I can sing I am free
Yet not I but through Christ in me
4. With every breath I long to follow Jesus
For he has said that he will bring me home
And day by day I know he will renew me
Until I stand with joy before the throne
To this I hold my hope is only Jesus
All the glory evermore to him
When the race is complete still my lips shall repeat
Yet not I but through Christ in me
Yet not I but through Christ in me
Yet not I but through Christ in me
Listen to the Orginial.

Photos and Support Letter in Haiti
HFCM is about 3 and half hours away from the capital however, our village is feeling the effects through widespread hunger.
Support Letter
Habitat For Children Ministries, Inc. (HFCM) is a 501 C (3) non-profit organization working in the rural area of LaJuene, Haiti. Founded in 2005 by Meschac St Amour, HFCM has sought to meet the physical and spiritual needs of the children and families in the area by providing food, clothing, shelter, access to education, school supplies, and medical attention and care, all while sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ. Over the past year, this work has been extremely difficult due to the violence and unrest in the capital city of Port-au-Prince.
HFCM is about 3 and half hours away from the capital however, our village is feeling the effects through widespread hunger. Gangs have created roadblocks for trucks traveling out of the capitol which is stopping aid and everyday necessities from getting to small villages. There is also no gas to travel and staple products such as rice, beans and oil are too expensive to buy even when they are available, so families are going without.
HFCM has been working to bring over as much food and aid to the people as possible and we want to continue our efforts in helping as much as we can for as long as needed because we know of the political hardships that continuously plague the Haitian country.
HFCM uses Missionary Flights International out of Fort Pierce, FL to deliver goods directly into the mountain area at $1.95/a pound. Some of the items that we know can go far are ramen noodles, dry milk, cereal, oatmeal, rice, dry beans, spaghetti/macaroni noodles and peanut butter.
We know that we can't feed everyone but the more help that we can get, the better the people of Haiti will be because families need help now. To find out more information on how you can be a blessing, please contact Meschac St Amour at any of the following:

Photos of King Tut Exhibit - Tons of Fun
We Visited the King Tut Exhibit on April 30th
April 30 - Grace Tons of Fun gathering - visit to the Elliot Museum - King Tut exhibit.
We had about 22 people signed up, but a couple of conflicts came up. Another couple joined us at last minute in addition.
We gathered at the museum and met Barbara, the docent assigned to lead our tour. The King Tut exhibit includes replicas of actual artifacts. It was mentioned that the exhibit had been on tour decades earlier. Some of our Grace group mentioned that they may have seen this exhibit years earlier, some as far back as 40 years ago.
The docent provided lots of background on the period and artifacts. I believe we learned a lot and several of us came away with some areas of additional self research.
As the King Tut tour was winding down some of the Grace group started visiting other parts of the museum. Eventually others joined them. The car collection and display area was a hit. It has a car jukebox like display system that brings individual cars down from the collection for front and center viewing.
Shortly after that, 9 of us decide to break for lunch at the tiki cafe which is just outside the museum. I think we were all surprised how good the food was.
The weather cleared as we were eating and we decided to take a short stroll across the beach parking area to take a look at the Seaside Cafe and the Stuart beach.
Shortly after that we decided to say good bye. It was nice that we had some blue sky and beautiful view of the ocean as a bonus on our outing.
Above are a few photos from the visit.

[Sunday] Gideon's 300 - His Eyes The Book of Judges
Despite hiding in fear, Gideon becomes God's unlikely instrument for delivering Israel, a reminder that God uses the unassuming to achieve the extraordinary.
Judges Chapters 6-9
Despite hiding in fear, Gideon becomes God's unlikely instrument for delivering Israel, a reminder that God uses the unassuming to achieve the extraordinary.
QUESTIONS FOR THE WEEK: His Eyes: The Book of Judges - Gideon’s 300
Initially Gideon feels underqualified for the calling God makes on his life. Have you ever felt unqualified for a calling or responsibility?
Read Judges 6. How can Gideon's story help us deal with feelings of inadequacy when faced with a calling or challenge?
Read Judges 7:The concept of "too many people" (Gideon having too large an army) is an interesting one. How can this idea apply to our own ministries or our vocations? When might trusting God involve letting go of control or certain ways of doing things?
Gideon ends up making an idol (the ephod) out of his success. Can you think of any times in your own life where you've taken credit for something God played a role in? How can we be mindful of giving God the credit he deserves?

“As my eyes grew accustomed to the light, details of the room within emerged slowly from the mist, strange animals, statues, and gold – everywhere the glint of gold…when Lord Carnarvon, unable to stand the suspense any longer, inquired anxiously, ‘Can you see anything?’ it was all I could do to get out the words, ‘Yes, wonderful things.’” – Howard Carter
The Elliott Museum will open our doors on January 3, 2024, to a wonderous scene in much the same fashion as Howard Carter did on November 26, 1922, 100 years ago. In collaboration with Tarek Ragab and the Egyptian Art Center in Cairo, we will be hosting “In Celebration of King Tut” in the museum’s main gallery.
We intend to do all we can to transform our modern museum space into an ancient tomb of unimaginable beauty. These remarkable objects have been painstakingly recreated by historians and artists in Egypt using locally sourced, authentic materials and scaled and finished to perfection. The impact of standing amidst these objects will be something you will long remember. We were fortunate to secure the exhibit for a five-month run which will afford everyone a January to May window opportunity to take it all in.
ALL EXHIBITS ARE INCLUDED WITH REGULAR ADMISSIONS
Wait, are we really supposed to be perfect like God? That’s a lot of pressure! But what if the perfect is more like the completion of the seventh day? Perhaps, in the perfection, we will finally find rest.
